Currently, Boeing has four families of commercial aircraft in production: the Boeing 737 , Boeing 767 , Boeing 787 , and the Boeing 777 . Of these, the Boeing 767 is set to be the next aircraft to go out of production. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner was built as a replacement for the Boeing 767.

However, new-build 767s continue to be produced as freighters and have also been adopted as the KC-46A Pegasus aerial refueling tanker . The best days of the 767's production are now behind it, but how many more will be produced? Replaced by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner The Boeing 787 Dreamliner entered service in 2011 and the final Boeing 767 was delivered in 2014. Boeing targeted a 20% less fuel burn with its Dreamliners compared to older aircraft like the Boeing 767 while also offering increased range.

The 787 comes in three variants designed to replace 767 variants. The first Dreamliner variant, the 787-8, was designed to replace the Boeing 767-200ER. It comes with a typical two-class capacity of 248 passengers and was able to expand into new nonstop markets that were unviable with the older 767 and other previous-generation aircraft.
