Listen up Zara enthusiasts, this is the end of an era! Zara has officially closed its flagship store in the bustling Fort area of South Mumbai after eight years. Located in the historic Ismail Building, the store may have become quite a landmark in the city, but looks like it has officially shut its doors. Spanning five floors and covering 51,300 square feet, this store was Zara’s largest in India and a significant presence on Mumbai’s retail landscape.

As per reports, a notice has been posted on the store’s door announcing that operations would end as of February 23, 2025. However, the brand didn’t provide any specific reasons for the closure. Customers have instead been directed to other Zara locations in Mumbai or to the brand’s online store for continued shopping.



Mumbaikars may already be aware of the hype around the store when it first opened in 2017. Situated in a heritage building at Hatuma Chowk Square, it was Zara’s only standalone store in the city, while the brand’s other outlets were inside shopping malls. The decision to open in such a historic, high-traffic area seemed like a bold move that paid off, attracting both locals and tourists alike.

Of course, not to say the financial commitment wasn't substantial. Back in 2017, Zara’s parent company, Inditex Trent, agreed to a hefty ₹30 crore annual rent, marking it as the largest lease transaction for a fashion brand at the time. Despite the significant cost, the store played a major role in solidi.
