It was unclear exactly what had happened, with a rep saying it was "minor" and that Zac was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
The star himself later moved to reassure fans that he was fine, without sharing further details. But has now reported that the actor was left "dazed" after a dive went wrong. Sources said Zac, 36, dived in during an early morning swim and that his chest hit the bottom of the pool.
He then ingested a "large amount of water into his lungs" and "showed signs of distress". As he was "momentarily dazed" he was taken to hospital where an X-ray reportedly revealed the water had cleared from his lungs. Zac has been taking some down time around Europe and the incident took place at a villa in Ibiza.
A source told TMZ at the time that the actor was "found inside the swimming pool by two people working at the villa who pulled him out of the water". His reps told the US site that he'd had a "minor swimming incident" and that he was taken to hospital as a precaution, before being released the next day. News of Zac's accident left fans concerned, with many posting about it on social media.
"Poor Zac I hope you’re OK," said one on X, as another said they were "so worried". The Hollywood star later addressed his mishap himself, thanking fans for their messages of support. Sharing a snap on Instagram that showed him working out as he soaked up the sun, he wrote: "Happy and healthy - thanks for the well wishes.
" It wasn't the first time Zac had been in the news for a hurting himself. In 2022 the Iron Claw star shared how he had injured his jaw when he slipped and fell while running in his house in socks. There had been speculation about the actor undergoing plastic surgery after fans spotted his jawline looking different, but he told about his fall, explaining that he had hit his face on a fountain and lost consciousness.
