After whitewashing Australia U-19 in the one-dayers, India wrapped up the first youth Test in three days but not before surviving a mighty scare at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here. In-form leg-spinner Mohamed Enaan (6-79), who had scalped three in the first innings, bagged a match-influencing six-wicket haul in the second essay to put the hosts in the driver's seat.
Set a target of 212, India were thankful to Nitya Pandya (51 off 86 balls; 3x4) and Nikhil Kumar (55 not out off 71 balls; 3x4, 4x6) and notched up a thrilling two-wicket win minutes into the extended phase of play on Wednesday.
