Its lead, Sanya Malhotra, a Bollywood star who has featured in two of India's highest-grossing Indian films of all time, won the Best Actress Award at the 2024 New York Indian Film Festival for her performance in , while its director, Arati Kadav, was nominated in the Best Director category.

In what the Indian Association of Bendigo has described as "a real coup for the city," it has organised for Ms Malhotra to attend the Saturday afternoon screening of her film here. "Having both the festival come to Bendigo and Sanya visit to launch it is a real coup for the city," association president Abhishek Awasthi said. "We have been working for the past few years to make this happen, and it's an important step in showing Bendigo off to India.



" The film, which features beautiful cinematography, tells the story of a dancer who marries a doctor and finds that behind his modern facade lies traditional chauvinistic expectations. Mr Awasthi said the film's message was: "Be proud of who you are and be a strong advocate of your beliefs, your passion and your skills." However, he admitted he hadn't seen it yet.
