RESIDENTS of the NC500 have been left baffled by a Channel 4 documentary exploring Scotland's answer to Route 66. However, North Coast 500 locals took to Facebook to express their disappointment at the mispronunciations. The episode showcased members of Lochinver setting out to revive the Assynt Highland Games for the first time in three years before detailing the work at Dunnet Bay Distillery. The episode also featured Highland ranger Connaire restoring a flooded pathway beside Loch Maree, part of the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve.

NC500 Villagers Outraged by Tourist Behaviour Residents say the influx of visitors is leading to over-tourism and anti-social behaviour. One villager took to social media to hit out at visitors parking on both sides of the road. There have been many reports of anti-social behaviour stemming from the parade of campervans and motorhomes on the NC500.

Rangers in the Highlands were forced to call in cops to deal with outbursts of extremely aggressive behaviour from tourists. Meanwhile, a report revealed that cases of people doing their business in laybys and elsewhere has doubled in two years ..
