Husband and wife, Katie and Mark Godman-Sinclair, are organising the ball in attempt to raise money for the society that supported Mark over the past few years. Mark was diagnosed with MS nearly 20 years ago and has been working to raise money for the MS Society. MS, also known as multiple sclerosis, is a condition that affects your nerves in your central nervous system, meaning your brain and spinal cord.

Katie says it causes a range of symptoms including mobility issues and vision impairment. Mark said: "So many people are affected by MS, whether its directly or someone they know so we really just want to raise awareness." MS Society says on its website that more than 150,000 people in the UK have MS and the majority of people discover it in their 30s and 40s.

Due to there not being a cure for MS, Katie says there are some depictions in the media can be quite negative. However, with the right help and support, Katie says specialists can help to manage the condition and symptoms. She said: "You can still live a positive life with MS.

"I want it to be a positive event." Katie described how Mark is a record-breaking marathon runner, but due to the condition affecting his mobility, he's continued to compete in marathons with his racing wheelchair. She said: "In the last few years he has become a regular competitor in the Bournemouth 10k.

" With all the money raised going to the MS Society. The MS Society Ball will be at The Cumberland Hotel and will take place on February 1, 202.
