Pune: The Yerawada Metro station on the Vanaz-Ramwadi route will open for commuters from Wednesday, almost five months after the services started on the stretch in March 2014. The Maha Metro on Tuesday announced that trains would stop at the station starting from Wednesday morning and it would not have any effect on the existing time table. The safety inspections of the station were conducted a couple of weeks ago.

The station was kept closed for commuters to assist the work on its entry-exit points, after residents had raised objections fearing traffic chaos on the main road. The Maha Metro and the Pune civic body prepared a fresh plan for the entry-exit points. A Maha Metro official said all the formalities to open the station for commercial use had been met with.

The Yerawada Metro station is located outside the goathan area. It will benefit those working at commercial establishments in the area. MSID:: 112660423 413 |.
