Nationally, there has been a 39.7 per cent surge in rents over the past five years, CoreLogic data has revealed. So what does the top end of Canberra's rental market look like? Seven houses are currently on the market for $2000 per week or more - and an honourable mention for 11 Terrigal Crescent, O'Malley, which is listed for $1950 per week.



Here are the five most expensive. Seven-bed mansion Nestled in one of Canberra's most coveted suburbs, this Red Hill residence has two dwellings with a pool and tennis court between them. The property at 2 Torress Street, Red Hill has luxury inclusions and is listed at $3500 per week.

One residence offers a four-bedroom, four-bathroom abode with three living areas and formal dining. The second dwelling has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a large open-plan area and balcony. The houses have green feature walls and 70s-style kitchens.

Both dwellings have ducted heating and can fit a number of cars in a lock-up garage. Additional features include a flagpole, gardener and pool maintenance. A separate driveway separates the two residences.

The kitchen is Italian marble with timber floors. There is a butler's pantry adjacent. In the main living room is a full wall of shelves, ideal for displaying collections or books.
