Now one survey has shown nearly half of Kiwi office workers would consider quitting if their work-from-home days were reduced .

Would you quit your job if you couldn’t work from home? According to a new survey, 45% of us would consider it. Census data released this week shows that the number of people working from home most of the time increased nearly 60% between 2018 and 2023 , with the highest growth in Wellington and Auckland. In 2023, 158,658 Aucklanders mostly worked from home, compared with 72,099 in 2018.



In Wellington, the number increased from 24,909 people in 2018 to 56,016 in 2023. Now a survey conducted by recruitment firm Cultivate of 1000 office workers based throughout the country has shown that 45% of those surveyed would rethink their future with their company if their flexible working days were reduced. And 38% even considered flexible working, or lack thereof, a “deal breaker” when job hunting.
