I want to remind people that Republicans and the media have continued to downplay the electoral drubbing anti-abortion forces have taken. They have virtually ignored the shellacking the GOP has repeatedly been taking in off year elections, special elections, and ballot measures since Dobbs: and In darkest red America, no less. That these elections don’t figure into the data of many prognosticators is also infuriating, but indicative of a ruling class that is in deep denial of reality.
It is the height of smugness and male privilege to assume that this incandescent rage has abated, or that other issues and questions will be somehow more determinative in this election. I for one, don’t think so. We see it in the gender gap numbers too.
I mean sure, I guess it helps that Harris is a woman, who greatly understands all the ramifications of this issue, but I think the momentum would be there in any case. Because women are, figuratively speaking, coming to affix GOP heads to pikes. 26,000 women in Texas alone have had to carry pregnancies to term as the result of rape.
That is a fact, and it should enrage any sane and compassionate person, with or without a penis. I am not sure the GOP and their media, are quite prepared for what they have unleashed here. But it will be fun to watch them try to process it on election night.
