AN AMERICAN tourist revealed how she got a free extra holiday in Italy after being bumped from her flight - and thousands of pounds worth of flight vouchers. When Susan Berry's flight was overbooked, American Airlines reportedly needed volunteers to stay behind in Italy - with expenses paid. Photographer Susan was given the news that her American Airlines flight was overbooked - as were the others to Philadelphia for almost two weeks, she said.

Susan's Naples trip was able to be extended a few days, boasting thousands of pounds worth of four-star hotel stays, private cars, delicious meals - and securing flight vouchers. The 36-year-old suggested that she couldn't wait to volunteer herself to stay longer on holiday. Speaking to Business Insider, she said: "Before the manager could even finish his sentence, I’m like, ‘Me! Me! Me! Can I do it please?'" read more in travel Susan managed to rack up an eye-watering total of $3,550, or around £2,780, in flight vouchers.



This isn't even including the luxurious hotel stay, her meals and transport , it's reported. Sadly for her, this didn't quite meet her $10,000 goal of free flying. Despite Berry telling Good Morning America she was "mentally preparing to stay for two weeks", her holiday was extended by three nights.

"I'm in Vancouver right now travelling for work, and my mum called the hotel and had them put together a little gift basket.

" She then films herself walking into her room to find a little bundle of treats including popcorn, sweets and fruit. "Look at this - literally from my mum - for free. "Not only did I get free snacks, but they also wrote me a little card.

She explains: "I tell them a little bit about myself and who I'd like to send the gift to, and just see if there is anything they can do to help make the stay a little bit more special for the person.".
