The safety and security of Bhubaneswar residents residing in gated communities have been called into question once again following another burglary in a city apartment located in the Bomikhal area. A woman has lost her wedding ring, and four gold earrings while she was in her office. The looters have also fled away with Rs 16,000 cash that she had withdrawn for some personal work.

This comes a few days after a scientist was looted of over half a kilogram of gold ornaments from his luxurious apartment in the Chandaka area. According to sources, the looters target houses when the owners are usually out for office. Like every day, the victim S Triveni locked her apartment and left for the office at around 10 am.



Taking advantage of her absence, the looters barged into her house at around 1-1:30 pm noon and looted all her belongings. The burglars specifically targeted gold items and cash, leaving other valuables untouched. Going by the theft, it seems to be the handiwork of some professional looters as they have broken the house lock using some weapons to enter her house.

“I usually go to the office at around 10 am and return in the evening. The looters entered my house at noon at around 1 pm. A gold ring and my four sets of gold earrings are missing.

They have also fled away with cash to the tune of Rs 16,000,” alleged the victim. On being informed, Shaheed Nagar police rushed to the spot and launched a probe into the incident. The rising cases of apartment loot, chain snatc.
