Pune: A 29-year-old woman died, and her husband suffered severe head injuries after a water tanker hit their motorcycle while trying to overtake them in Hinjewadi Phase 2 on Monday. The Hinjewadi police have identified the deceased woman as Gunjan Amit Hole of Tathawade. The police have arrested the truck driver under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving on a public way) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Sub-inspector Devidas Phad of the Hinjewadi police told TOI that the accident occurred around 4pm on Monday, when the couple were riding towards Tathawade. "A water tanker hit their bike in an attempt to overtake," Phad said. Due to the impact, the couple fell off the motorcycle.
The woman came under the wheels of the tanker. "The husband is undergoing treatment in a hospital," the officer said..
