She had “numerous bite marks and injuries” and her clothing had the DNA of domestic dogs on it, according to the Butte County Sheriff's Office . A medical examiner later determined she had died as a result of a domestic dog attack. Authorities had obtained a search warrant, following her death, and captured 23 loose Great Dane dogs on the trail.

These dogs were handed over to Butte County Animal Control as they searched for the two remaining animals. They confirmed tests would be carried out to determine if there is a link between the DNA discovered on Corbin and the DNA of these animals. This would dictate which dog or dogs had mauled the California mother.
