The production of Beauty and the Beast which stars Dame Maureen Lipman is set to come to a posh west London theatre - but with lights on throughout and none of the normal bangs and lashes in its last special performance. Everyone will be able to enjoy the 'magic' and interested customers can familiarise themselves with the venue before attending so they get used to its surroundings.
And show bosses report that attendees will be able to move around during the performance which has no strobe lights and is taking place at the 125-year-old Richmond Theatre. One local fumed: 'Going woke.'
