Friday, January 24, 2025 Wizz Air has announced a major expansion in Bucharest for summer 2025, including the addition of two Airbus A321neo aircraft, three new routes, and a new base at Bucharest Baneasa – Aurel Vlaicu International Airport. Starting April 1, 2025, this expansion will boost connectivity between Romania and Europe while offering budget-friendly travel options with nearly 750,000 additional seats. The airline’s summer schedule will see an 18% growth in capacity compared to 2024, with a total of 21 aircraft based in Bucharest and 66 routes across two airports.

Starting April 1, 2025, Bucharest Baneasa will serve as Wizz Air’s second base in the city. The following routes will be operated from this airport: Since its launch in Romania in 2006, Wizz Air has steadily grown its operations, investing significantly in the country. The airline now boasts 175 routes across 13 Romanian airports, connecting travelers to 72 destinations in 24 countries.



Wizz Air’s six operational bases in Romania—Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Timișoara, Craiova, and Sibiu—employ over 1,500 people. With a 55% market share in Romania, Wizz Air’s Bucharest expansion aligns with its broader “WIZZ 500” strategy to increase fleet size and connectivity.
