Patna: Ramvachan Rai was appointed unopposed as the deputy chairman of the Bihar Vidhan Parishad on Wednesday. He had filed his nomination a day earlier with no challengers. Rai expressed gratitude towards chief minister Nitish Kumar and leader of opposition Rabri Devi, acknowledging their roles in his career.
He also thanked chairperson Awadhesh Narain Singh and other members of the Upper House for their support. During the question hour, state tourism minister Nitish Mishra announced that his department, in coordination with the environment, forest and climate change department, would explore the development of Bhikna Thori in West Champaran district as a tourist destination . RJD MLC Saurabh Kumar, who raised the issue, highlighted the area’s natural beauty and its historical appeal to Britishers and Europeans.
Kumar stressed the need for better tourist facilities. CPI MLC Sanjay Kumar Singh addressed the problem of waterlogging at Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Sheohar, part of Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa. Singh said drain water had been flooding the campus for nearly a year without resolution.
He challenged the govt’s claim that the issue was resolved. In response, urban development and housing minister Nitin Nabin promised to review the situation and take action against officials who provided incorrect information.
