Friday, August 23, 2024 The Chandigarh-Manali NH between Bindravani and Pandoh in Mandi district will be closed for two hours every Wednesday to ensure traveler safety due to landslide risks and hazardous boulders. The Chandigarh-Manali National Highway (NH) between Bindravani and Pandoh in Mandi district will be closed for two hours every Wednesday, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. This decision was announced by District Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, Apoorv Devgan, to ensure the safety of travelers.

The closure comes in response to concerns raised by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) about the increased risk to motorists due to frequent landslides and dangerously hanging boulders along this stretch of the highway. These natural hazards have created a significant danger for those traveling through the area. To address these risks, the district administration has decided to implement regular closures to allow for the safe removal of precariously hanging rocks.

These efforts are aimed at reducing the threat posed by these hazards and ensuring a safer passage for travelers. During the closure periods, specialized teams will work to clear the hazardous boulders and rocks from the highway, improving safety conditions for all road users. This proactive approach is seen as essential to prevent accidents and protect lives.

These closures are part of a larger initiative by the district authorities to manage the risks associated with the region’s challenging terrain, ensuring that the Chandigarh-Manali NH remains a secure and reliable route for travelers..
