Sunday, February 2, 2025 Morocco is ramping up efforts to position itself as a premier travel destination, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and cultural immersion. A key initiative spearheaded by the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) and Spanish tour operator Ávoris aims to highlight the country’s diverse attractions, from the bustling souks of Marrakech and the majestic Atlas Mountains to the serene beaches of Essaouira and the vast Sahara Desert. This strategic partnership comes at a time when Spanish tourism to Morocco is booming.

In 2024, the country welcomed 3.5 million Spanish visitors—a staggering 160% increase from the previous year. This surge aligns with Morocco’s broader vision of strengthening its presence in the European travel market and attracting a more diverse influx of tourists.

The landmark collaboration was officially unveiled at FITUR 2025, one of the world’s leading tourism fairs, held in Madrid. Morocco’s pavilion attracted significant attention, with high-profile attendees including Spain’s King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia. ONMT General Director Achraf Fayda, Morocco’s ambassador to Spain Karima Benyaich, and National Confederation of Tourism President Hamid Bentahar welcomed the royal delegation, reinforcing the deep diplomatic and tourism ties between the two nations.

Morocco’s presence at FITUR was one of its strongest to date, with a delegation of 180 industry professionals from both public and private sectors. Natio.
