You may know by now that Turkish Airlines plans to serve Minneapolis. The fast-growing carrier's Chairman, Ahmet Bolat, said that Minnesota flights will begin in April or May 2025, in time for the peak summer. He spoke at Turkish Airlines' Management Summit 2025, adding to his previous disclosure about Minneapolis .

Bolat tends to publicly say what will happen before the airline officially announces a new route or lists it on the 'public disclosure' part of its investor relations website, which it must do legally. Examples abound. For instance, in 2023, he stated that Australian flights would be coming and specified that Melbourne would be the first destination, along with the frequency and stopover point.

Turkish Airlines' boss Down Under hotly contested this, perhaps for negotiating reasons with Sydney, which materialized later. Bolat also revealed that Detroit flights would begin ahead of the official announcement, with that route taking off in November 2023. The carrier now plans up to 49 departures to Africa daily.

What is known so far? Almost nothing. Turkish Airlines' Minneapolis start date, schedule, frequency, aircraft, and more are unknown when writing on January 20. However, like most of the carrier's new long-haul routes, the first rotation will probably be on the Boeing 777-300ER to accommodate press and dignitaries.

While subject to confirmation, Minneapolis will probably initially have three weekly services on the 316- or 329-seat Airbus A350-900 or the 300-sea.
