Though the Love Is Blind season seven star faced backlash for suddenly dumping fiancée Marissa George before their wedding day, Ramses shared why he waited so long to break up with her. "I, in my heart of hearts, wanted this to really work," he exclusively told E! News at the reunion, airing Oct.

"The reason why it even got so far is because my heart really wanted to walk down that aisle and see Marissa coming down that aisle as well, but I had to recognize just where our fundamental differences were." Still, Ramses, 35, said it was challenging to "see how heartbroken" Marissa, 32, was after he called off their engagement.



"It's difficult to see and hear—even now—how much that heartbreak has affected her," he explained. "I'm a pure empath, and it hurts me to hear that to this day." Following their split, Ramses and Marissa had several off-camera conversations to discuss his "reasoning" behind the breakup, according to the program associate, who works at a justice reform nonprofit.

"I wasn't trying to cut her out of my life," he shared. "I wanted to be available to her, to have the conversations that she needed to have, so that she could find closure."
