Season 4 of has welcomed a string of new characters, including the show's first real villain, Genevieve, Laurent's daughter from a past relationship. Similar to Emily, the teenager moved from to Paris with the hopes of finding a new beginning in the French capital. Initially, the pair hit it off and bonded over their move to the City of Love.

That was until Emily noticed how deceitful Genevieve can be and others to advance her career, and her fulfil her desire of getting closer to Gabriel. Thalia Besson is the actor behind ' character's new rival, and while she made have made a short but impactful appearance in season four of Emily In Paris, it's likely this isn't the last time we'll be seeing her on our screens. The 23-year-old actor may be viewed as a newcomer to many of us, however, she's far from unfamiliar in the industry.



As the daughter of film director Luc Besson (who directed Subway, The Big Blue and La Femme Nikita) and producer Virginie Besson-Silla, essentially making her TV royalty. Before starring in Netflix's Emily In Paris, she previously appeared in the following TV shows and films: Dangerous Waters, Arthur Malédiction, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and Triton. Following in her father's footsteps, Besson has already directed two films.

According to an Instagram post on July 2, she stated: 'Made my first film and it’s almost ready to show u guys. Sneak peek.' Then, in another post later that month, she shared that the production for her second film had finished.

The actor and director captioned the picture: 'That’s a wrap on directing my second film. Thank you to my awesome team of besties for believing in the absurdity of this project. Gonna make y’all laugh with this one tac tac!' While Besson herself hasn't revealed anything about her role on Emily In Paris season five, given the way that season four ended, there is an extremely high chance that her character Genevieve will be back in the next season to continue playing Emily's rival.

Although Gabriel rejected Genevieve's advances, as Emily has headed off to Rome with Marcello Muratori (played by Eugenio Franceschini), there's no telling what Genevieve may try to do while Emily is away - both career wise and romantically!
