As Dr. Marc Chavez , we're taking a closer look at his past and his alleged involvement in the death case. On Wednesday, October 2, pleaded guilty in court in connection to death after he was charged with conspiring to distribute the surgical anesthetic ketamine.

According to court documents, the 54-year-old doctor who had previously run a ketamine clinic, confessed to selling ketamine to Dr. Salvador Plasencia. Plasencia then injected the actor with the drug on multiple occasions.



Chavez admitted to obtaining the drug from his former medical center after he submitted a fake prescription, using the name of a former patient. And as Dr. Chavez became the in connection to the Friends star's death, we're taking a closer look at his life leading up to his involvement in the high-profile case.

Chavez is an emergency medicine specialist who resides in Oceanside, California and has over 19 years of experience in the medical field. According to , he was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. There, he attended the University of New Mexico (UNM) and earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry in 1998.

After receiving his degree, Chavez moved to San Diego, California, where he worked as a medicinal chemist for a startup biotech company. In 2004, he earned his MD degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and in 2008, he completed his residency training at Stony Brook University Hospital in Long Island, New York. After finishing his residency, Chavez returned to South.
