According to the source, the American singer applied for legal control over her son’s personal and financial affairs in December 2023, citing his alleged substance abuse and mental health troubles. Per the same article, Allman, 48, was due to receive assets from a trust set up by his late father, musician Gregg Allman, by the end of 2023, which would have granted him regular payments.

The pop star filed two immediate temporary conservatorship requests, which were both denied, but a longer one had yet to be resolved, reports the BBC. In court filings obtained at the time, Cher’s lawyers stated that she was “concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk”, adds the news outlet.
