After nothing short of a turbulent year, The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue has finally announced some good news as he takes the next step in his relationship with partner Anais Naing. The singer announced that he and his partner of several years, Anais, had gotten engaged following a sweet proposal, leaving his beau shocked and thrilled! Now that Anais and Danny are off the market and heading toward wedded bliss, The Script star has revealed how he found ‘the one’ during a time of uncertainty for the world. French national Naing has been loved by The Script singer Danny O’Donoghue for years, with the couple making their relationship official at the Pride of Britain Awards in 2021.

The Events manager, 27, hails from Britanny in Northern France but has lived in London for a number of years due to her work. After moving to the UK some years back, the French native found herself living in the same London suburb as O’Donoghue, 43, who had been living there for over ten years at the time. During the COVID-19 pandemic, O’Donoghue told The Sun that he and Naing would spend time just ‘hanging out’ in either of their London pads when restrictions were in place.

It was just before the lockdown stages of the COVID-19 pandemic that Naing, 30, and ‘Breakeven’ singer O’Donoghue became acquainted after they had a chance encounter close to both of their homes, which are located in the same area of London–their paths crossed on the street. Naing, who had been living in the city for seven years at the time, became friendly with O’Donoghue. The pair spent some time in each other’s homes getting to know one another during the Covid-19 lockdown in London before deciding to try dating following Danny’s breakup with Brazilian model Anne De Paula in 2018.

Speaking to the Irish Independent back in 2021, after going public with his relationship, Balinteer native Danny said: ‘It’s funny because we spent longer together in lockdown than we did in real life,’ he said. ‘She’s from Brittany in France. She’s an events manager aged 27, who has been living in the English capital for seven years.

’ The Script’s lead singer also revealed that he had introduced his then-girlfriend to his mum, who gave her a seal of approval and ‘offered her lots of tea’. Danny has already taken Anais to a place in Co Wicklow numerous times. The place they visited had a beach, but there wasn’t any Wi-Fi – ‘and you’re not going to get more rural than that,’ the Dubliner joked.

Danny announced in mid-August that he had proposed to his loving partner, Anais, in one of his favourite places in the world. Naing is said to have been shocked and thrilled following the sweet proposal. He told the Sun.

‘We hiked up to the top of a mountain to face the most beautiful waterfall in the world, The Seven Sisters. It’s our favourite place on earth. ‘I nearly passed out from exhaustion carrying up all the champagne, glasses and food for if she said yes.

I had to do it all without her knowing.’ Danny recently shared insights about his relationship with Anais and confirmed she’s the one for him. Danny said to the Sunday World: ‘When you know, you know.

.. I knew when it wasn’t right, but now I know whatever that is, that it’s one hundred per cent right.

‘She’s great. I met her during Covid, and if you’ve been with anybody through Covid, it’s like you compress ten years into those years..

. ‘You learn everything, all the good bits, mostly the bad bits, and if you get through those moments..

. I don’t know if it’s a rite of passage, if you’ve made it through those few years then you know.’ The sweet engagement announcement comes after a devastating year for Danny, which included the passing of bandmate and best friend Mark Sheehan, 46, in 2023.
