Arshad Warsi , widely recognized for his iconic role as Circuit in 'Munnabhai' MBBS alongside Sanjay Dutt, recently opened up about his early career and a memorable encounter with veteran actress Jaya Bachchan. The actor, who has been gaining praise for his work in Asur 2 , reflected on the time before he entered the film industry and shared his experience during an interview with Humans of Bombay. Warsi recounted that he had been approached by director Joy Augustine for a role in a film backed by Amitabh Bachchan’s production company.

However, he was hesitant to accept the offer because he doubted his acting skills. Warsi recalled telling the production team that he can't act, don’t do this to him! He feared becoming one of those people who come to Mumbai with dreams of becoming an actor but end up as stories of missed opportunities. Despite his reservations, Warsi sent his photos to the production company.



To his surprise, he received a call from Jaya Bachchan, who wanted to meet him. Nervous and convinced that he would be rejected, Warsi humorously thought, "Why not, Amitabh Bachchan ki biwi hai, let’s get fired by Jaya Bachchan!" He anticipated that even being scolded by her would make for a great story in his life. He recalled that Jaya Bachchan kept asking him if he spoke Hindi, to which he nervously responded in English, despite understanding the language perfectly. Much to his shock, instead of rejecting him, Jaya Bachchan told him he would be doing the film. Warsi humorously remarked that at that moment, he felt like his world had ended.

Years later, Warsi asked Jaya Bachchan why she had chosen him for the role. The seasoned actress revealed that it was the range of emotions he displayed in the 36 photos he had sent that convinced her of his potential. This anecdote not only highlights Warsi’s early struggles and insecurities but also showcases the keen eye Jaya Bachchan had in recognizing talent, even in someone as unsure as Arshad Warsi at the time.
