It will be open from Saturday, August 31st to Sunday, September 15th. The opening reception is on August 31st, starting at 5:30PM.

HOURS: 2PM — 8PM (Wednesdays to Saturdays) // 1PM — 7PM (Sundays) Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Admission is FREE! Currently based in Tokyo, his methods of expression are diverse, including manga, illustrations, photography, sculpture, music, and painting. When talking about him, it is essential to mention his graphic novel “GLEEM,” which has won numerous awards and attracted attention.

The worldview depicted in the novel, which combines his roots as a Dominican born and raised in Toronto, his Afro-futurist ideas born from his identity as an Afro-Latino, and the cyberpunk atmosphere he gained from his life and experiences in Tokyo, has been highly praised by many companies and creators, leading to various collaborations. In the animation industry, he’s worked with Pixar and Cartoon Network. In the fashion scene, he has worked with NIKE and Fragment, and recently had a collaboration with Kanye West in 2023.

All of them have been praised as “COOL”. However, after these collaborations, he was driven by one desire: rather than to simply create pictures that would be labeled “cool” and consumed, it was to be closer to humanity and express the ideas that arose from it, using art as the medium. It has been about two years since he started painting with that idea in mind.

Now that he has stopped doing big projects, his family and friends have started asking him the same question. “WHEN ARE YOU COMING HOME?” The purpose of this exhibition is to search for his true “HOME” and he painted his answers to those questions. It is not for anyone else.

He painted as if he was questioning himself. He does not know if it is the right answer or not. However, he paints with the belief that everything, even the most trivial things, are causally connected.

“What are you doing in Japan?” “There’s something I’m looking for. I don’t know what it is, but I know for sure I haven’t found it yet. Although he is my biological father, I don’t know him that well.

The questions he asked were big. These works are the answers to those questions. ” – Freddy Carrasco With his first solo exhibition, “WHEN ARE YOU COMING HOME,” Freddy Carrasco explores his definition of “home”.
