Wheeler Dealers presenter Mike Brewer has admitted he once crashed a historic Lotus Esprit while filming the iconic classic car restoration show. Mike made the admission on social media site X when asked by a viewer whether he had ever been involved in an accident on the show. Mike will get behind the wheel of a vehicle twice in each episode to give the car a spin before and after a restoration has been completed.

Amazingly, Mike admitted he had been involved in a minor shunt while test-driving the gorgeous Lotus Esprit model. Mike and former presenter Edd China restored the model back in series three which first aired more than 15 years ago in 2008. The viewer asked on X : “[I’ve] been watching reruns of Wheeler Dealers for months now and I am left wondering did you ever have an accident on any of the test drives, either before you bought a car or after you finished doing them up?” Mike responded : “I caught the front of the Lotus Esprit but it was just a cone and minor, but that’s it.



Touchwood.” Lotus Esprit machines were one of the most iconic models of the late 1970s and early 1980s after their appearance in two James Bond movies. Roger Moore got behind the wheel of a custom-built submarine in the style of an Esprit in the 1977 movie The Spy Who Loved Me.
