Veteran broadcaster Alan Jones will face weeks of media scrutiny and a frenzy at his first court appearance next month after being charged with indecent assault. The 83-year-old has been hit with 26 offences - after police confirmed two additional charges over a ninth alleged victim on Tuesday - following a months-long probe. The former 2GB host faces 11 counts of aggravated indecent assault - victim under authority of offender, 11 counts of assault with act of indecency, two counts of sexually touch another person without consent and two counts of common assault.
Jones has strenuously denied the allegations. The ex Wallabies coach was granted conditional bail, which included surrendering his passport and not being allowed near any points of departure from Australia. Jones will have to stay at his luxury $20 million harbourside apartment in Circular Quay until his first court appearance set for December 18 at Downing Centre Local Court.
Defence lawyer Michael Kuzilny revealed what will likely play out on the day. "This will be the first day the charges are listed," he said on Sunrise. "Prosecutors will decide which charges will proceed.
Timelines will be given for when the brief of evidence will serve. His defence team say these matters will be vigorously contested but it's not just one (alleged) victim, there's eight." Mr Kuzilny added it will be an "interesting case" in terms of how it unfolds.
He flagged there will be a media frenzy "for months" and "lots of adjournments"..
