Amazon Air, also previously known as Prime Air, is a cargo airline that solely transports packages for Amazon. Prior to January 2021, the airline used wetleased aircraft from other operators but now plans to have their own fleet of aircraft . However, they will still rely on other operators, even if they have their own aircraft, for CMI (Crew, Maintenance, Insurance) leases.
Let's take a look at what aircraft Amazon Air utilizes. Taking a look at their fleet They currently have a fleet of 95 aircraft. They have five Airbus A330-300P2F currently operated by Hawaiian Airlines since 2023, and they have another five of the same aircraft on order.
Amazon Air has a total of 30 Boeing 737-800BCF; of which eight are operated by Atlas Air, nine by ASL Airlines Ireland, one is operated by QuikJet Airlines and 12 by Sun Country Airlines. Amazon Air also has a total of 60 Boeing 767-300F. Forty-one of these are operated by Air Transport International, 17 are operated by Atlas Air and two by CargoJet Airways.
Previously, they also had a fleet of five ATR 72-500F operated by Silver Airways until July 2023, but the airline is no longer working with Amazon Air. Its first aircraft was named 'Amazon One'. These aircraft are US based only, apart from Quikjet Airlines who operate in India.
