In one of the most bizarre batting collapses in recent history, Western Australia crumbled from a stable 52/2 to 53 all-out, losing 8 wickets for just one run in their fourth match of the ongoing One-Day Cup against Tasmania in Perth. The defending champions suffered a total batting collapse, marking the second-lowest team total in Australia’s domestic one-day cup history. After being sent in to bat, Western Australia seemed to be building a steady foundation, reaching 52/2 in the 16th over.

However, in a sudden and dramatic turn, their middle and lower order completely disintegrated. Within a mere 28 deliveries, they lost 8 wickets for just one run, which came from a wide. This included some bright Australian stars like Ashton Turner, Hilton Cartwright and Ashton Agar who all departed for ducks.

The devastating bowling performance from Tasmania was led by Beau Webster, who ripped through the Western Australian lineup, taking his career-best figures of 6/17. He was supported by fellow pacer Billy Stanlake, who finished with great figures of 3/17. In response, Tasmania chased down the modest target of 54 runs with ease, completing the job in just 8.

3 overs to secure a seven-wicket victory. Although Tasmania lost three wickets in their pursuit, Mitchell Owen top-scored with 29 to ensure a comfortable win for his side. This isn’t the first time that Western Australia have suffered a batting collapse this season as in an earlier match, they went from 133/3 to 164 all-out whil.
