On Thursday, August 8th, Welojets announced a new plan for expansion in Europe. The Spanish charter company revealed that it plans to expand into the United Kingdom . Welojets, which was initially founded in 2018, has continued to grow over the past year.



It has recorded 34% growth in 2023 and predicted growth of 42% this year. Establishing a European presence Welojets has a goal of expanding throughout Europe, especially focusing on highly populated areas. To work on the plan of expansion, Welojets has set its sights on the United Kingdom by capitalizing on the substantial air traffic throughout the country.

Specifically, the Welojets announced plans to begin operating at the following airports: London Heathrow Airport (LHR) London Gatwick Airport (LGW) London Luton Airport (LTN) London City Airport (LCY) Manchester Airport (MAN) Birmingham Airport (BHX) Edinburgh Airport (EDI) Beyond the UK's busier airports, Welojets will also operate at more remote airports and airfields, including Inverness Airport (INV), Cornwall Airport Newquay (NQY), and Sumburgh Airport (LSI) in the Shetland Islands. Operating at this range of airports will provide its customers with extensive coverage. Overall, London is one of the busiest private aviation hubs in the world, as it generates over 55,000 flights per year, more than half of British air travel.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Welojets, Alfredo Lisdero, spoke about the plans for expansion in Europe. Lisdero stated, "Our presence in the UK is a significant milestone. The business aviation sector in the country has surpassed 15% of pre-pandemic charter flight volumes, presenting a substantial growth opportunity.

" A new Welojets aircraft Welojets also recently announced a new business jet in its fleet. The company recently launched flights on its Gulfstream G550. The new long-range business jet will assist Welojets in offering flights that connect various cities throughout Europe, including the new cities that Welojets operates to and from in the UK.

The Gulfstream G550 was produced by Gulfstream from 2003 to 2021. Over 600 aircraft were built before the aircraft was eventually replaced by the newer Gulfstream G600. This aircraft was initially designed to replace the Gulfstream V with a wide range of upgrades.

Gulfstream introduced this long-range aircraft shortly after it received its Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) type certificate in August 2003. The Gulfstream G550 utilizes two Rolls-Royce BR710 turbofan engines, which each provide over 15,000 pounds of thrust.
