Is time important in feeling attraction? One can certainly provide a definitive answer to this question: attraction is not proportional to time. There are instances when you might never feel attracted to someone despite spending a long time with them. Conversely, there are moments when you feel an immediate attraction without even having a conversation.

We often describe this as "falling in love at first sight." The same principle applies to cars. Some vehicles may not reveal their charm even after a whole day or several days of driving.

On the other hand, some cars instantly captivate you. The Casper Electric is one such car. Despite the brief time spent with it, the allure of the Casper Electric was profound—much like falling in love at first sight.

Design That Feels Like One with Pixel Graphics The Casper has won many hearts with its distinctive look. As the first micro SUV with a playful, youthful design, it has captured a lot of attention. The Casper Electric continues this trend.

In fact, I find it even more attractive, as if it has found the perfect makeup for its face and style. The Casper's characteristic round headlights have been slightly refined, and the grille, which previously had holes, is now covered with a glossy acrylic radiator grille. The front center turn signal lamps and headlights featuring pixel graphics are particularly eye-catching.

This design, first introduced with the Ioniq 5, integrates seamlessly with the Casper. The side profile remains similar to the original Casper, with muscular fender lines, character lines, and plastic cladding around the wheelhouse and lower sections. However, there is a notable difference: the new 17-inch wheels with a square design complement the pixel design.

Additionally, the rear door handles have been styled to add a cute touch. The rear also features pixel graphics, with the auxiliary brake light and tail lamps arranged in a neat pixel pattern. The direction indicators on the bumper are also pixel-themed.

Overall, the pixel graphics blend well, making it seem as though these design elements were developed specifically for the Casper Electric. While owners of the internal combustion Casper might not appreciate this, the Casper Electric clearly has a superior design. Redefining the Concept of a Microcar with Luxurious Features and Spacious Interior The Casper Electric has the potential to completely change our perception of microcars.

Its features and convenience options, tailored to Korean tastes, stand up well against even high-end imports. The luxurious features and comfort are more than what one would expect from a vehicle of this size. The first noticeable feature is the steering wheel.

Unlike the internal combustion Casper, the Electric version sports a three-spoke design with interactive pixel lights that change with driving modes, enhancing driver interaction. The natural leather texture is also premium, making it pleasant to handle. The 10.

25-inch instrument cluster and 10.25-inch navigation screen offer high visibility and display a wide range of information. The navigation screen, in particular, includes electric vehicle-specific features that provide essential data for electric driving.

The Casper Electric excels in space utilization. Thanks to Hyundai's ingenuity, it feels like driving a small car that doesn’t feel small. A prime example is the additional storage space in the center fascia.

Unlike the internal combustion Casper, which has a protruding gear lever, the Electric model uses an electronic gear column located behind the steering wheel. This design reduces the bulk of the center fascia and adds a wireless phone charging area. The interior is overall very spacious, thanks to an increase in size compared to the original Casper.

Hyundai extended the length by 230mm, widened it by 15mm, and increased the wheelbase by 180mm. The reason for the increase in size, despite giving up microcar benefits, is to accommodate a larger battery. While it would have been possible to fit the battery into the original Casper’s body, this would have resulted in reduced driving range and limited space.

Hyundai made the right choice. The increased size effectively addresses the spatial limitations that were previously unsolvable in a microcar. The Casper Electric provides ample rear seat space even when the front seats are adjusted comfortably.

Additionally, the rear seats have sliding and reclining functions, allowing for flexible adjustment. The cargo space has also expanded, now 47 liters larger than the internal combustion Casper at 280 liters, and up to 351 liters when the rear seats are folded forward. A Microcar with Impressive Performance Typically, microcars are known for their small engines and limited power, focusing more on efficiency than performance.

The Casper Electric breaks this mold, offering neither a lack of power nor compromised efficiency. It effectively captures both aspects. The Casper Electric is powered by an 85.

4 kW motor, equivalent to approximately 115 horsepower. While these figures might seem modest, the car excels in responsiveness and acceleration thanks to its electric motor. It delivers a lively performance not previously experienced in microcars, with smooth and enjoyable acceleration.

The electric-specific features also contribute to a pleasant driving experience, such as the smart regenerative braking system, which automatically adjusts the regenerative braking amount based on forward traffic flow and the driver’s deceleration patterns. It effectively slows down and stops without requiring manual adjustment. Driving stability is also commendable, thanks to the heavy battery mounted low in the chassis.

The low center of gravity ensures that the car remains stable even during aggressive driving. The ride quality is exceptional, with suspension designed for electric vehicles and the battery’s weight providing a smooth and refined ride, akin to that of a luxury sedan. The noise insulation is impressive as well.

Typically, electric cars might have noticeable road noise, wind noise, and vibrations, especially in a microcar. However, the Casper Electric maintains a solid barrier against these noises, even during more demanding driving situations. In summary, despite being a microcar, the Casper Electric offers generous space and a full suite of features without any shortcomings.

If you’re willing to forgo a larger vehicle or an internal combustion engine, the Casper Electric is an excellent choice. The three hours spent with the Casper Electric felt timeless, and it confirmed that the Casper Electric is exactly what we wanted. David Heo@chosunbiz.
