Last month, staff from Watford Community Housing brought in food inspired by cuisines from across the world, including India, Jamaica, Sierra Leone and South Africa, to the housing association’s offices on Clarendon Road. Some staff also dressed in their nation’s traditional clothing, to celebrate the diversity of the workforce and help colleagues learn about different cultures. Those without food were encouraged to bring in a donation for Watford Foodbank to support local families who are struggling with living costs.

Richard Walsham, Finance Business Partner for Watford Community Housing and organiser of the event said: “World Food Day is a brilliant opportunity to learn about the different cultures in our community and give back to those who may not have the luxury of making and sharing food. “Due to the generosity of staff, we are grateful to have been able to give Watford Foodbank an even bigger donation than last year, and provide food that the foodbank is in desperate need of this time of year.” In total, Watford Community Housing raised £170 and delivered five crates and two large bags of food - which came to 30kg - to Watford Foodbank.
