Contaminated drinking water in Sai Nagar, Ward 67 of Gajuwaka, led to three residents falling ill, sparking swift action from the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC). The affected individuals, identified as B. Triveni (35), P.

Padmavati (57), and Ramesh, suffered from gastrointestinal issues after consuming polluted water. They are currently receiving medical treatment at local hospitals and are reported to be in stable condition. GVMC Commissioner explained that the contamination occurred due to soil infiltration into the freshwater pipeline during road development work in the area.



Affected pipelines have been identified for immediate repair and maintenance to prevent further incidents. The Commissioner has tasked Zonal Commissioner with implementing strict measures to ensure the safety of drinking water supplies. Additionally, , District Medical and Health Officer, visited the affected area to oversee the situation and ensure adequate medical support for residents.

GVMC teams have begun flushing and sanitizing the water pipelines in the ward. Water tankers are being deployed to supply safe drinking water to Sai Nagar until normalcy is restored. Public announcements are being made to caution residents against using tap water for consumption until further notice.
