MUMBAI: Panic spread among passengers aboard an air-conditioned coach of the JabalpurMumbai Garib Rath Express on Sunday after they spotted a snake during their journey. The incident occurred while the train was en route to Mumbai. A video of the snake quickly went viral on social media, showing the reptile hanging from the iron grip of a side berth, with passengers leaving their seats in alarm in G17 coach.

“According to railway officials , as soon as the presence of the snake was reported at Kasara, passengers were promptly shifted to another coach. No one faced any major inconvenience. The coach where the snake was found was locked, and it was safely removed.



” The snake reportedly entered the train while it was statio nary near Kasara, possibly from anearby tree. Some passengers attempted to throw the snake out using a blanket, but while the blanket fell out, the snake retreated into the air-conditioning panel. Another official said, “The train continued its journey after the coach with the snake was detached from the rake’s configuration.

” This is the second incident of asnake being found on a Mumbai-bound long-distance train. In July 2024, one was spotted on the side upper berth of an AC coach on the Gorakhpur-Bandra Terminus Weekly Express at Charbagh station in Lucknow division. That incident, too, had gone viral, showing the snake’s tail emerging from an opening in the coach roof.
