New Delhi: Despite making arrangements to prevent Delhi streets from choking on vehicles, the traffic situation on the New Year’s day could not be avoided. As a result, even ambulances had to wait in the traffic congestion in the national capital. Key routes like the Singhu border, GT Road and NH1 were packed with vehicles piling up behind one another.
The C-Hexagon at India Gate, Connaught Place and other prominent spots in Delhi saw a huge crowd of people, leading to gridlocks on many routes on January 1. A commuter on microblogging site, X (formerly Twitter) said, “This saga continues and I am forced to complain again after 2 years because Delhi Traffic police allows people to park their cars on ring road. Multiple ambulances stuck in traffic screeching in pain”.
Meanwhile, another user tagged the Complaint Department of the Delhi Traffic Police and wrote, “@DelhiPolice @DelhiComplaint Traffic is jammed on GT Road National Highway for hours jam is more than 10 Kilometres hundreds of vehicles stuck up for hours. JAM is due to haphazard parking at Khatusham Delhi Dham.” Apart from the New Year rush, the traffic was affected on some roads due to waterlogging.
This includes Rohtank Road in both the carriageways from Mundka to Rajdhani Park and vice-versa, the Delhi Traffic Police claimed. Reacting to this, a X user stated that there was a traffic jam for two hours on NH1. Metro Stations Hit by CrowdsLarge crowds were gathered at Akshardham Mandir, Jhandewalan Mandir,.
