While the fair did end up closing early on Wednesday night due to bad weather, it is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.

m. most days except Sunday, when it closes at 9 p.m.



It started on Aug. 19, and runs through Sunday Aug. 25 and features various food stalls, livestock events, concerts in the evenings, special events such as the mustache and mullets competition, and more.

“Some of the things that are new at the fair this year are the dock diving event, some of the music. We have tonight, Shake, Rattle and Roll. On Friday, we have a Beatles tribute band, and on Saturday, we have the Not Sorry band, so they're like, kind of like ‘80s, kind of fun stuff there,” said Rebecca Breese, co-manager of the fair.

They also have their usual fair fan-favorites, the chainsaw carving and the pig racing, she said. The youth exhibitors also bring all kinds of livestock to the event including horses, oxen, goats, sheep, pigs, and more. “One of the things that I think is kind of unique about the fair is that all the animals here are from Washington County,” said Breese.

“We're the number one agricultural fair in New York State, and we spend our time showcasing all the wonderful things that you can learn about in agriculture here, right at the fair.” Many of the exhibitors and participants at the fair are family run farms that have been participating for decades. Cheyenne Hall, who shows a pair of oxen at the fair, said that her family has been participating for the last 30 years.
