ELLICOTTVILLE — Walk, run, wobble or gobble at the third annual 5K Turkey Trot hosted by Warrior Fitness & Wellness on Thanksgiving Day. Led by owner and local fitness instructor Bradley Poole, the event will begin and end at the Warrior Fitness gym at 5A Park Ave. The race will start promptly at 8 a.
m. and follow a 3.1-mile, marked course throughout the village.
Participants can choose to walk or run. Poole said this year’s participants will receive a medal for completing the course. After the trot, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy assorted snacks and beverages before heading home to feast with their families.
Turkey trots are meant to be fun. Poole is asking participants to use their imagination and dress in their best turkey gear. He said to dress as a turkey, a chef, a piece of silverware or anything related to Thanksgiving.
Poole said anybody of any age can come, including children in strollers. People can bring their pets, as long as they are on a leash. “This won’t be a timed run.
It’s just a fun run to get the community moving,” he said. “Bring your friends, your family and your dog, if you wish. We want to get everybody together for the Turkey Trot before they celebrate their Thanksgiving.
” All runners and walkers are asked to bring a non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Ellicottville Food Pantry. Poole said Jan. 4 will mark the fourth anniversary of when he began his fitness center at the Ellicottville location.
