A travel magazine has singled out 50 of the 'ugliest' towns to visit in Spain, including one tourists have labelled as places 'not to stay' and 'nobody would miss'. Viajar has released a map of what it's called the 'ugliest towns in Spain' which includes one area for every province in the country, including popular holiday destinations like Malaga, Madrid, Valencia and the Balearic Islands. Specific reasons haven't been given as to why each town has been labelled as ugly, however some of the selections include the opinions of anonymous people who have visited the region, or local features that people might perceive as ugly.

One town on the list, Alovera in Guadalajara, was included based on some opinions shared in travellers' forums. One critical user was quoted as saying: " It is a place where NOT to stay or live, millions of noisy tuned cars and motorbikes passing by with noisy exhausts at all hours, the police do nothing and there is nothing to visit.

If the earth swallowed it up tomorrow, nobody would miss it." Other explanations mentioned reviews of local tourist attractions or comparisons with attractive towns nearby.
