Located on the newly refurbished promenade in Colwyn Bay, The Toad has welcomed tourists and returning regulars to North Wales for over a hundred years. The Toad, unlike its name, is an attractively furnished traditional inn with stunning sea views over the coast, especially if you manage to nab a table next to the pub window or front terrace. The inn reopened last June following a £200,000 investment from leading community pub company, Admiral Tavern.
Peter Hammond, licensee at The Toad for over 18 years, was more than made up with the pub’s transformation. Inside, The Toad has been given a new lease of life with a full refurbishment including a new bar, brand-new modern furniture, flooring and fixtures throughout as well as a refreshed coastal colour scheme of pale blue and light grey. Outside, customers are greeted with new signage, lighting, and windows with a dark and light blue tint.
For those not doing dry January, the plush new bar has all the classic beers and ales. Customers can also choose from a unique range of craft and premium brands, including Blue Moon and Brixton Reliance Pale Ale. Bottles of wine were priced from £23 a bottle, whilst a fancy cocktail would set you back about £9.
The Toad also hosts an award-winning food menu, which is extremely popular among the local community. The main menu changes on a regular basis but consists of various fish deals, juicy steaks, or vegetarian options. The Toad also hosts a popular Sunday lunch menu with Welsh blac.
