War memorials were cleaned up across Bolton ahead of Remembrance Day Services and Armistice commemorations. Works were carried out not only at the memorial on Victoria Square opposite the town hall but also at the other monuments across Bolton and its districts. Remembrance Day services also took place in Astley Bridge, Farnworth , Horwich, Blackrod, Little Lever, Stoneclough, Westhoughton, Kearsley and elsewhere.
Cllr Debbie Newall, of Kearsley, said: "Kearsley Remembrance Parade was very well attended by residents. “Tributes were laid by representatives from many community groups as well as local councillors, armed forces and members of the public". The Victoria Square service on Sunday saw veterans and army cadets march from Le Mans Crescent to Victoria Square with brass bands and flag displays as the public looked on. Remembrance events took place around the borough (Image: Public) The service was led by the Vicar of Bolton, the Reverend Hannah Lane, with a march of military personnel that began at 10.55am before the main event around the war memorial.
