Sometimes the most innocent comments aren’t appreciated due to the attitude of the recipient. A sincere, “Have a nice day” is sometimes greeted by a growled response, “Don’t tell me what to do!” Even a pleasant, generic statement can get a negative response. “Enjoy your vacation” could be followed by, “Why? are you glad to get rid of me for two weeks?”.
