ThursdayThe season kicks off with a classic rivalry game in Somers, where private schools St. Joseph and Shoreland Lutheran battle for the Lighthouse Trophy. The Lancers have dominated the meeting in recent years, and they have enough experience to be favored again.

Matt Rizzo has developed a powerhouse at St. Joseph, coming off an undefeated regular season, and the Lancers lead the area in returning all-county players with three — linebacker Campbell Kuiper, offensive lineman Brian Ortega and fullback/linebacker Dominic Santarelli.
