The new Transporter Volkswagen has unveiled its new nine-seater Caravelle and iconic Transporter commercial. The seventh generation of the motors is due here next March. They have more space, payload (Transporter), driver and safety assists.

There are choices of front-wheel and all-wheel drive. It is the first time these multi-function vehicles will have plug-in hybrid drive and electric drives as alternatives to diesels. There will be seven powered versions: three turbo-charged diesel engines, a plug-in hybrid drive and three electric drives (e-Transporter and e-Caravelle).



The electric e-Transporter and e-Caravelle launch with 100 kW (136 PS), 160 kW (218 PS) and 210 kW (286 PS) power outputs. Battery capacity is 64 kWh (net). In the Transporter, the maximum pay-load is up to 1.

33tonnes. At launch, there will be three diesels (110hp, 150hp, 170hp) and two trim levels – Trendline and Highline. Full electric versions of the Transporter are due in Q2 next year and the eHybrid will follow later.
