Volaris has announced that it will introduce three new routes to Mexico from Oakland, two of which will start next year. The airline has been steadily expanding its US network and operating out of San Francisco since 2009. Three new routes in total Volaris is expanding its route network and giving the residents of Oakland and greater San Francisco more options for their travel to Mexico .
The airline announced two new routes originating from San Francisco's Oakland International Airport (OAK). This, along with the Los Cabos route announced in September, expands the airline's route network with three new routes. The first route is from Oakland to Monterrey International Airport (MTY) in Nuevo León, Mexico, a tourist and business hub in the region.
The ultra-low-cost carrier celebrated its inaugural flight to MTY on November 14th. The airline operates flights to MTY from OAK three times weekly, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Eric Seth, Route Planning Director at Volaris, had this to say: “We’re thrilled to launch this new route connecting two key cities—Monterrey and Oakland—that are strategically important for both countries.
This addition underscores our commitment to diversifying our network and providing more destination options for our customers on both sides of the border. Our expansion at Volaris is moving forward with strong momentum. We’re focused on offering more flight options to bring families, friends, and travelers to experience new destination.
