Vadodara: Officials of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) found themselves in an embarrassing situation during the inauguration of the new office for Ward 1 of the civic body due to the lack of some facilities there. The civic body officials were reprimanded in public by a local MLA on Tuesday. Former mayor and Sayajigunj BJP MLA Keyur Rokadiya was to attend the event along with other elected representatives.

The ward has all corporators from the opposition Congress party in the panel. At the event, Congress corporator Jaha Desai, who is a former M S University student leader like Rokadiya, informed the MLA about the lack of facilities at the new ward office. Desai said that the ward office was ready for quite some time but was not being inaugurated.



“I informed the MLA how arrangements for groundwater recharging had not been provided at the new building. There is also no shade for parking at the new office. Besides vehicles, it can act as a shade for those visiting the office,” Desai said.

Rokadiya reprimanded the officials in public at the new office. He asked them to take care of the facilities as soon as possible. He was particularly sour at the fact that despite provisions in the GDCR, groundwater recharging arrangements had not been done at the building.

Karnataka Congress MLA accused of forcing cops to book govt official A government employee, Shanthkumar Swamy, accused Sagar MLA Gopalakrishna Belur and DySP Gopal Nayak of targeting him and demanding a bribe. The MLA denied any involvement, while Swamy is facing charges under the NDPS Act. The police allege Swamy tried to frame others by planting ganja.
