Representative image NEW DELHI: A Vistara flight from Frankfurt to Mumbai, with 147 people on board, made an emergency landing in Mumbai on Wednesday morning due to a bomb threat , marking it as the eighth flight affected by such incidents that day. The Boeing 787 aircraft safely landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 7:45am. The flight, designated UK 028, had departed Frankfurt on Tuesday at 8:20pm local time.
It was carrying 134 passengers and 13 crew members at the time of the incident. According to sources, the flight received a security alert related to a threat received via social media, prompting immediate action. Vistara confirmed the situation in a statement, stating, "The flight was subject to a security threat, and all relevant authorities were promptly informed.
" After landing, the aircraft was directed to an isolation bay for mandatory security checks, where all passengers were safely disembarked. Vistara has assured full cooperation with security agencies to ensure thorough investigations are conducted. Even though the bomb threat was received on Wednesday, the Vistara airlines issued the statement on the following day.
Officials have reported that a total of 19 flights have received bomb threats over a span of three days, with a Riyadh-bound IndiGo flight being diverted to Muscat due to one of the threats.
