Monday, August 19, 2024 The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), also known as Visit Maldives, has taken a significant step to strengthen the Maldives’ destination presence in China by partnering with Fliggy, one of China’s leading online travel platforms. This collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by MMPRC’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr. Ibrahim Shiuree, and Fliggy’s Vice President, Mr.

Tong Teng, at a ceremony held at Villa Nautica on August 18, 2024. The event was also supported by Villa Resorts, further highlighting the Maldives’ appeal as a premier destination for Chinese travelers. The strategic partnership between MMPRC and Fliggy is expected to amplify the Maldives’ visibility in the Chinese market, reinforcing its reputation as a top destination for leisure, MICE travel, and other tourism segments.



This collaboration aligns with MMPRC’s broader goal of maintaining the Maldives’ position as a key source market for Chinese tourists. During the signing ceremony, Mr. Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and MD of MMPRC, expressed his gratitude to Fliggy and all stakeholders involved, emphasizing the importance of this partnership for the future of Maldives tourism.

The collaboration with MMPRC is expected to enhance the Maldives’ market position and attract a wider audience from China, especially as the global travel industry continues to recover. The partnership aims to promote the diverse tourism offerings of the Maldives, known as the “Sunny Side of Life,” to Chinese travelers.

The signing ceremony, hosted at Villa Nautica, was a strategic move to showcase the Maldives as an ideal location for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) travel, further promoting the destination’s appeal for events and conferences. By partnering with Villa Resorts for this event, Visit Maldives underscores the versatility of the Maldives as a top choice for various travel segments. The significance of this partnership was also highlighted by the Minister of Tourism, Ibrahim Faisal, who expressed his appreciation for the longstanding relationship between China and the Maldives.

This partnership is a wonderful opportunity to build on that connection,” said Minister Faisal.
